Penrith Valley



TOURIST DRIVES
Tourist Drives 14 and 18 both start at the junction of the M4 and Mulgoa Road. Look out for the numbered brown shields. Penrith Valley has over 30 individual suburbs, some of which are places of significant historical importance. Many have a village like atmosphere where you can stop for coffee or a meal, enjoy the shopping, explore old church graveyards and historic buildings.

Drive 14 will take you North to Penrith Lakes and the Sydney International Regatta Centre. The villages of Agnes Banks, and Castlereagh demonstrate the rural aspect of Penrith Valley. Call into Penrith Valley Oranges and pick your own oranges. The drive continues to Richmond and Windsor on the Hawkesbury River where you will find much early European history. Return to Penrith along The Northern Road.


Drive 18 will take you South along Mulgoa Road to Mulgoa. Fairlight Road which leads past the Mt Schoenstatt Shrine to The Rock Lookout. Call into Mulgoa or Wallacia for lunch, morning or afternoon tea. Take a scenic ‘country drive’ to Bents Basin State Conservation Area and Blaxland Crossing. Model Park on Luddenham Road is open the last Sunday of every month. Return to Penrith along the Northern Road or continue the drive into the MacArthur region.


PENRITH VALLEY HERITAGE DRIVE
Take a drive through the historic Penrith Valley and walk in the footsteps of our pioneering settlers. The Penrith Valley Heritage Drive covers both urban and rural areas and includes heritage sites from St Marys, Penrith, Castlereagh, Emu Plains and Mulgoa. The sites are numbered consecutively from 1 to 27 starting with Mamre Homestead near St Marys. However you can join the route at any point and follow the numbers to complete the Drive. You will experience the urban and industrial areas of Penrith, St Marys and Emu Plains as well as the rural regions of Castlereagh and Mulgoa meanwhile along the Nepean River there are impressive vistas of the Blue Mountains.

PENRITH VALLEY FOOD & WINE TRAIL
Pick your own delicious Navel and Valencia oranges and peruse local produce available for sale, visit Australia’s only saké brewery, sample different honeys and honey products and visit a winery.

TOUR PENRITH VALLEY MUSEUMS
Find out Penrith’s history in the Arms of Australia Inn Museum in Emu Plains. Visit the Penrith Museum of Printing at Penrith Paceway and learn how the printed word was reproduced before the advent of the computer. Discover the fascinating history of fire and fire fighting at the Museum of Fire or learn about Aboriginal culture at the multi-award winning Muru Mittigar Aboriginal Cultural Centre at Penrith Lakes.
