Education in the Valley


Penrith Valley has a long history in providing quality educational services, led by the University of Western Sydney, Western Sydney Institute of TAFE, and the Nepean Hospital as a teaching hospital of Sydney University. Penrith provides a complete range of schooling and vocational and other training services to promote life long learning and skills development to meet the needs of an evolving industry base.
96 child care centres across Penrith Valley provide a full range of children’s services required by families. There are 20 secondary schools; 8 private and 12 state high schools.
Western Sydney Institute (WSI) is the fastest growing TAFE Institute in NSW and delivers more than 1,000 courses to over 43,000 students in Australia.
The 158 hectare Penrith campus of the University of Western Sydney (UWS) has sites at Kingswood and Werrington and offers courses in contemporary arts, design, education, business, science, engineering, arts, humanities and astronomy.

Penrith is also home to state of the art teaching facilities such as the Astronomy Centre which houses the largest campus telescope in Australia and the Mechatronics facility which provides training, education and research opportunities to engineering students.
Nepean Hospital is a teaching hospital of Sydney University and provides clinical services in most medical disciplines and sub-specialties to the people of Penrith and surrounding areas. It is accredited for training in anesthetics, emergency medicine, intensive care, obstetrics and gynaecology and has close to 120 medical, international and post-graduate research students studying towards their degrees.
